Star Wars, Selected scenes, Super8 reel, Color/sound, UFA/Büscher Films (Germany) 1982(?)

This cutdown of the Star Wars film runs about 20 minutes with sound and colour (what's left of it on these old prints), and is the same edit as the US/UK "F-64" releases, but with German sound (I assume, I can't play Super8 sound to confirm) and a German title card. It begins with C-3PO's oil bath and Leia's message, segues into the Sandpeople scene and goes directly to Mos Eisley and the Cantina scene. Then you get the destruction of Alderaan, followed by a shortened version of the escape from the Death Star (no Ben-Vader duel) and the rebel briefing. The reel concludes with the Death Star space battle and medal ceremony.

I like the misguided tagline from the German poster on the front and back; "Once upon a time in the distant future".

I am uncertain when this was released, but according to IMDB this was released three years after the first Marketing Film releases, which would be roughly 1982. It is also unclear why the manufacturer switched from Marketing Film to UFA. I can only assume that UFA took over the licence in Germany after Marketing Film's rights expired. For all I know they could be the same company.

This particular reel seems to rarely come up for sale. I don't think it is particularily rare, it's just that I don't come across it as often as the other German releases. Costs an arm and a leg too.

All vintage Super8 reels have faded colour to a certain degree, so I've taken out the majority of the red push in the enclosed screenshots. This is to give you an idea of what the image looked like when these releases were the only "home video" option available.
