The Making of Star Wars/ SP FX: The Empire Strikes Back, Betamax, 20th Century-Fox Video USA, 1982

These are the two "Making of" documentaries for the first two Star Wars films, released as one program. The same combo would be released on Beta, VHS and Laserdisc in both the US and Japan around the same time. The program opens with the Fox fanfare and a voiceover saying "The following special presentation is brought to you by 20th. Century-Fox Video". Both documentaries are shown in full, with complete opening and closing credits.
This drawer version of the documentaries is quite rare. I am unsure whether this was later rereleased in a regular cardboard slipcase or not. They used the same box for both VHS and Beta, with only a sticker noting the format. The Beta logo on the spine is only visible when the drawer is closed. The previous owner neglected to rewind his tape. Tsk. Tsk. |
There is a watermark protruding from the upper left corner which appears to say "FOXVID 2". (See detail to the right, click image to enlarge). This would not have been visible back in the day, with the excessive overscan on old tube TVs.
