Disc Version 1
Disc Version 2

Star Wars Episode I, DVD, Bootleg "Dish Emperor/New City Releasing version", China 2001

I call this the "Dish Emperor/New City Releasing" version, due to the "Dish Emperor" logo on the case, and the "New City Releasing" intro appearing before the main menu (See below). This is the 2001 cut of the film, with added pod race and air taxi scenes, as well as some other additions. The disc is a rip of the official US DVD, but with all extras removed. It's crammed onto a single layer disc with a high level of compression.

What is retained from the official DVD is the anamorphic widescreen image and the Dolby Digital 5.1 soundtrack. Subtitles are optional, and come in English (for the Hard of Hearing), Mandarin and Cantonese. Any on-screen subtitles for the alien languages is removed, so if you want to know what is being said you'll have to enable the English HoH-subtitles for those portions. The THX optimizer feature remains on the Options menu, but is no longer on the disc, nor are the DVD-ROM StarWars.com features, though their menu screen remains too.

As always, the cover has been hapazardly put together, with the credit block from Coyoute Ugly pasted on the back. It also has an ISRC (International Standard Recording Code) number, which is the international identification system for sound recordings and music video recordings.

I have two copies of this bootleg, and the disc art is subtly different. One has nice, saturated printing, but leaves out artwork at the centre, and the other has pale colours, but goes all the way to the spindle hole. I've checked, and the files are exactly the same date and size on both versions, so this is an insignificant variation.
