Star Wars Episode II, DVD, "Gold" Bootleg, China 2002

I call this the "Gold" version after the "Gold DVD" sticker on the cover. This was camcorded off a cinema screen, and features the theatrical edit of Episode II, never released commercially. The VOB-files on the disc are dated May 13th. 2002, but the movie premiered in cinemas May 16th. so that hardly seems legit. (Still, it's not unprecedented.) I bought this disc in August of that year.
There is no Fox fanfare at the beginning, and the end credits are cut off the moment they start. The camera seems to be situated somewhere to the right off center, and the image is a little slanted. They managed to capture most of the widescreen image, but detail is naturally lacking. The image is murkier and generally inferior to the second CAM bootleg I received the same month. The audio is encoded in Dolby Digital 5.1 but is practically monaural, as is the accompanying DTS 5.1 track. There are four subtitle tracks included, labelled English, Bahasa, Chinese and Thai. The trailer advertised on the back is a no-show.
