The Empire Strikes Back Special Edition, DVD, Bootleg, China 2000

Yet another version of the 1997 Special Edition, most likely sourced from the 1997 US laserdisc of the special edition like all the other bootlegs from the early 2000s. (The VOB files are dated January 2000.)

On startup the Dolby Digital "Canyon" trailer plays, and then the movie starts directly without going into the main menu. The film is in non-anamporphic widescreen, with burnt-in Chinese subtitles at the bottom of the screen. Audio is English Dolby Digital (AC-3) only. Bringing up the menu gives you a so-called "motion menu", where scenes from the film play in the background. There are three options, in Chinese only. "Play" starts the film, the "DTS" button gives you two DTS trailers, and "AC-3" gives you a two-minute surround sound channel check. If you let the film play to the end, you get one of the DTS trailers after the end credits.

This has the same "Look" intro that several other bootlegs have, but uses the menu template from this bootleg. The sources seem identical, but this disc's sound is horribly out of synch, though.

As you can see, the front and back covers don't match, with the back insert being for the first Star Wars film instead. This is the way I got it from the eBay seller.
