Star Wars Episode I, VHS, 20th Century Fox Video UK, 2000

The Phantom Menace was released as a rental tape in cropped fullscreen with Hi-Fi Stereo in the UK. The tape starts with an announcement about checking for a seal-of-authenticity (a hologram sticker) on the cassette itself, something that is unique to the rental tape. The tape also has a THX logo at the beginning, so this is a THX-certified tape.

Note that rental tapes in the UK have bigger boxes than the sell-trough tapes. This is to help differentiate them in stores and ensure that rental tapes are not sold to the public.

Rental places are generally allowed to sell off excess stock once the movie's popularity dwindles. By their very nature, rental tapes are hard to come by. In most cases they are heavily worn, the box may have been replaced and they are usually marred by stickers identifying the rental store, their internal serial number and/or the usual "rewind me!".
