Star Wars Episode II, VHS, SF Film Norway, 2002
|
This time, only the Pan&Scan version of the film was released in Norway (as opposed to the Widescreen only Episode I). (The Widescreen version was released in Sweden from the same distributor.) Since the release of Episode I, Norwegian distribution rights for 20th Century Fox movies had reverted to SF Film instead of Egmont Film.
By the time Episode II was released on home video, VHS was losing the battle with DVD and only high-profile releases like Star Wars were issued on VHS (as well as the bottom-tier budget titles of course). Unlike the Episode I release, SF Film opted for the cheaper transparent case that does not match the gold printing on the sleeve. Pity. I have come across two different types of tape stock used for this release. One has black spools instead of transparent ones. I've seen this on some commercial tapes and believe it is meant to differentiate "original" copies from bootlegs more easily. |
