These 1989 versions were the second sell-through issues of the trilogy in the UK, following the 1988 "All Time Greats" set, and existed alongside the 1991 Widescreen versions. The tapes were in print until the Digitally Remastered versions replaced them in 1994.
The image is in the 4x3 cropped "fullscreen" format, with English Hi-Fi stereo sound. Before the film there is a 5-minute musical montage of clips from other films in the "All Time Greats" line, an obvious holdover from the 1988 editions. The tapes came in transparent boxes, with interior "art" advertising the availability of the other films in the series, as well as a detailed list of the cast and crew. I have two separate pressings of this tape, and the copyright date on the tape label has been changed between pressings, which is unusual. (The sleeve retains the 1989 copyright date, only the tape labels were updated.) The contents of the tapes are exactly the same, with the exception of a slight difference in the placement of the copyright text at the beginning and repeated at the end. The price sticker on the front of the boxes only came on my 1989 pressings. |
