Star Wars, Fullscreen, VHS, CBS/Fox Video UK, 1988

In 1988 the first Star Wars film was issued along with its two sequels as part of the "CBS/Fox All Time Greats" collection. This was the first time the original trilogy had been issued at the same time and in matching packaging in the UK. The three tapes could also be bought as a set in a cardboard slipcase (See it here).

The film is in cropped "fullscreen" with original English Hi-Fi audio. The audio mix does not contain C-3PO's "tractor beam" line. The concurrent Empire and Jedi releases have a 5-minute musical montage of clips from other films in the "All Time Greats" line before the film, but this tape does not.

Each sleeve lists the cast and crew on the inside, and this tape came with a small catalogue of other films in the "All Time Greats" lineup dated April/May/June. I can assume there were later catalogs included with later pressings. (I bought mine in July 1989)

This tape was first issued with the white CBS/Fox branded case shown here, but later pressings had the generic transparent case with the rounded spine used for most CBS/Fox releases of the late eighties/early nineties. The price tag lists the price as GBP 14.99.
